For 14 years, former president of Haiti, Francois Duvalier (April 14,1907- April 21,1971) reigned the country of Haiti. His strict and brutal regime caused  nearly 30,000 deaths echoing around the world from the United States across to the Vatican in Italy. “Papa Doc” has influenced books, articles, and documentaries to be made on the Duvalier era.
